Assemblymember Corey Jackson secured $2 million in state funding to launch a proposed child care special district for Moreno Valley and Perris. The funding covers startup, planning, and formation costs, including requirements set by the Riverside Local Agency Formation Commission, known as LAFCO.
The earlier legislative route, Assembly Bill 2083, was unsuccessful. Jackson’s office says the new funding lets formation move forward without mandatory contributions from local school districts and other stakeholders, and his spokesperson said Jackson hopes the district can operate by 2028.
